Goshi

For several months now, Tim and I have noticed Emma talking about "Goshi." We thought she was referring to one of her dolls or something like that, but Tim finally figured it out this weekend. Emma has an invisible friend named Goshi. Way adorable. Goshi holds Emma's hand, sits in her lap, and plays with her toys. After Tim and I had the ah ha, an invisible friend light bulb moment, we now know that Goshi is a girl, has brown hair, likes to wear sweaters, likes to go to parties, and is 23 years old. Emma talks to Goshi (sometimes shortened to "Gosh") throughout the day and keeps Tim and me informed about what she is doing. Yesterday, Emma told us Goshi couldn't eat her eggs for dinner because they were too hot. Honestly, this invisible friend play is really one of the cutest things I've seen.

Emma looked at my pasty white legs the other day and asked, "Mommy, is that a map of Florida?" No, that would just be my attractive spider veins. ;)

Haircut

Ahhh, the fights between mother and daughter have already begun. For you dedicated blog followers, you'll remember that we trimmed her hair last fall. However, outside of the that minuscule trim, we've pretty much let her hair just grow. You can't tell too well from this picture, but her hair had grown all the way down to her lower back. Because of her curls, dreads had become the natural state of her hair and tangles could only be brushed out when wet (I actually should say picked out since we can only use a pick on her hair). This meant every morning I would have to wet down her hair, add product (ie detangler and some sort of gel), and have a battle of the wills to get her hair in a presentable state instead of the wolf child style Emma preferred. Her hair turned out pretty cute when I won (see below). But in the name of wise parenting and picking your battles (actually just exhaustion from fighting her every morning), I decided to cut her hair to make it more manageable. A win-win since Emma LOVES getting her hair cut. And her little bob turned out pretty adorable, a huge relief.

So I wish I had an excuse like "I was in Europe" or "I broke both hands" or "We lost power for 6 weeks" to explain my poor blogging. But, no. I just got sidetracked. Anyway, I will try to post a few over the next couple days to get everyone caught up. These pictures are of Emma and me making different faces, one of her favorite past times. Gymnastics, tap, and ballet

I've gone over to the dark, dark side and have become a stage mom. Okay, not quite. But we have started dance lessons. It's 30 minutes of gymnastics, 15 minutes of tap, and 15 minutes of ballet. It is hilarious and so entertaining. Here is a picture of Emma and her friend Ainsley getting ready to go into the gym. Parents aren't allowed in the gym or dance room with the kids (maybe a few of us really are stage moms) so some of these pictures were taken through the glass windows and not that clear.










There are two changes during the session to put on tap or ballet shoes. Here Emma's just put on her tap shoes and is getting ready to tap away...
