Why? Why? Why?

I was told that the "why" stage doesn't start until around the age of four, but let me tell you, we were deceived. We are full fledged into it and it's pretty darn hilarious.

"Mom, why that car smoking?" (Why are there exhaust fumes?)

"Dad, why you take all your shaves off again?" (Why are you shaving again? This was asked after Tim shaved for a second day in a row...a valid question for my student husband who rarely shaves everyday.)

And then we have the repeated why questions all about the same thing...

Emma: Mom, why all the trash cans over there?
Me: Because it's trash day.
Emma: Why that one's top open?
Me: Because they have too much trash for the lid to close.
Emma: Why?
Me: Because they are selfish, selfish people who don't care about their carbon footprint. No, I didn't really say that. Because they eat a lot.
